IFS Upgrades & Updates

IFS Upgrade Consultancy

An IFS upgrade usually means one of two things: moving from an older IFS Applications version to IFS Cloud, or updating an IFS Cloud environment you already have. Both give you access to the latest security fixes, performance improvements and features.

Upgrading your IFS version to the latest scalable and flexible IFS Cloud allows you to take advantage of the enhanced functionalities being delivered by IFS. These improvements directly impact your business processes, streamlining and optimising how your business delivers to your customers.

Muzulu’s IFS specialists plan upgrades around your existing setup: your processes, your customisations, your priorities. We test thoroughly and keep disruption to a minimum. Whether the work is a technical upgrade, a process review or a full reimplementation, we help you get to the right IFS solution for your business.

Why Keeping Your IFS Up-To-Date Matters

  • Improved Security

IFS releases security fixes through regular Cloud updates, so staying current keeps your environment protected against known vulnerabilities.

  • ifs Implementation

    Better Performance & New Features

Each release adds new functionality and enhances performance. An upgrade is also an opportunity to review what’s being used, remove old workarounds, and put to use features already included in your IFS Cloud licence.

  • Future Flexibility

Updating on a regular cycle prevents customisations and skipped releases from accumulating, keeping each upgrade smaller, faster and cheaper than the last.

Engineering and Construction

Complex projects make it difficult to keep control as scope changes and delivery moves across the business. Muzulu shapes IFS around the complete project and asset lifecycle, helping teams manage change effectively while protecting margin.

Why Choose Us

We look at your whole environment, including processes, integrations and customisations, so the project reflects what your business actually needs.

IFS natives, not generalists

Our consultants specialise in IFS Applications and IFS Cloud. That focus helps us advise clearly on what to keep, improve or replace.

Specialist help throughout

Functional consultants, technical specialists and solution architects support the project from initial assessment through to testing, cutover and stabilisation.

Your upgrade project stays yours

We work alongside your team throughout, sharing knowledge as we go, so your people understand and own the upgraded system.

Bespoke, not overbuilt

An upgrade is the natural point to remove unnecessary complexity. We review legacy customisations and workarounds, and use standard IFS functionality wherever it can do the job.

Post-go-live help

We can continue to support you after your upgrade goes live, helping with stabilisation, adoption and further improvements as your needs change.

Frequently asked question

How do I know if I need to upgrade IFS?

Support status is one sign. Others include relying more on workarounds, slow performance, integrations that keep breaking, or business needs your current version can't support.

Support for IFS Applications 10 ended on 27 March 2025. If you're still on that version, an upgrade plan should be a priority.

How often should I update IFS?

IFS Cloud follows an evergreen model: two release updates a year, plus monthly service updates. IFS recommends adopting one or two release updates annually, as part of a predictable routine.

The right frequency depends on the value of each release, how complex your environment is, your testing requirements and your operational calendar.

Do I need to adopt every IFS Cloud release?

No. You can choose when to adopt releases. What's important is having a consistent, repeatable approach that keeps you within IFS's support lifecycle.

What is the difference between an IFS update and an IFS upgrade?

Monthly service updates mainly fix issues. Twice-yearly release updates add new functionality too.

A larger upgrade means moving from an older IFS Applications version to IFS Cloud. This is a bigger project, involving a full review of customisations, integrations, data and processes.

What are the risks of a poorly implemented IFS update?

Rushed planning or testing can cause problems with integrations, reporting and permissions. Issues can also appear after go-live if customisations weren't properly checked beforehand.

A proper impact assessment, realistic testing and a rehearsed cutover plan reduce these risks.

Could I lose data during an IFS upgrade?

Data loss shouldn't happen during a well-run IFS upgrade, but validating your data is a core part of the process.

A controlled upgrade includes backups, migration rehearsals and checks to confirm data has transferred properly before go-live.

Will my systems be disrupted when I update IFS?

Some planned downtime may be needed, depending on the type and complexity of the upgrade.

Careful scheduling, realistic testing and a rehearsed cutover means we typically keep disruption short and predictable.

How long does an IFS upgrade take?

There's no set timescale. It depends on your starting version, customisations, integrations, data and testing needs.

Muzulu can first assess your environment, then create a plan based on the actual work involved as opposed to a fixed deadline.
